Job overview and responsibilities
Develops, publishes, and maintains industrial health standards, procedures, and specifications related to employees and their work environment. Conducts industrial hygiene and ergonomic surveys and assessments of operating areas and reports to management on findings, and if any corrective action is to be taken. Take action on reducing injury sources. Maintains liaison with the Medical Department to eliminate or minimize problems in the areas of occupational health.
Maintains contact with government agencies and industry groups to assure compliance with applicable requirements pertaining to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), etc. Manages audiometric testing program. Reviews/approves material safety data sheets for all chemicals introduced into the company and manages MSDS system.
Plans, manages, and conducts site evaluations and inspections to determine risk loss exposures, risk assessments, and conformance with OSHA and United’s safety policies and procedures. Perform analytical reviews on sources and opportunities to reduce injuries and ensuring personnel safety. Investigates fatalities and incidents of a serious nature to minimize corporate loss. Interacts and works extensively with representative unions on both proactive and remedial solutions to safety issues.
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, related technical field
Minimum of two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with broad exposure to industrial hygiene activities as well as ergonomic standards.
Advanced knowledge of OSHA requirements; Ergonomic standards and assessments
Excellent communication skills, written/oral.
Comprehensive understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
OSHA credentials (10, 30 Hour)
MBA, MSS, aviation or industrial industry safety and health experience
Project management experience desirable, including: systems integration, budgets and resource management.
Airline corporate and field operational safety experience.
Cross functional experience involving the application of safety process, initiatives, risk assessment, and compliance validations.
CSP, CIH, CQE, OSHA 511 & 501 or NSC Advanced Safety Certificate
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
