The Onboard Product development team is responsible for creating the strategy behind and the design and execution of the overall customer experience onboard all United Airlines flights. We lead cross-functional teams throughout the company on the design and development of all aircraft interiors and seats for all new delivery and retrofit fleets and cabins, leverage unique partnerships to help shape our food, wine and spirits programs onboard, as well as define and develop some of the best passenger amenities in the industry. This role is key to helping bring all of the different working groups together in order to successfully complete programs and initiatives on-time and on-budget, but is also the driver of the development and execution of our vision for the customer experience onboard. This highly visible job also allows for innovation in the partnership space, bringing brands onboard that customers enjoy, and may even be surprised and delighted to see on United. Project management skills and being able to deal with aggressive timelines are a must, and a creative mind is expected.
Lead design and implementation of all Seat products and Cabin Interior elements related to strategic aircraft programs in partnership with cross-functional teams and design agencies/seat and aircraft manufacturers
Lead definition of soft product (Food/Beverage/Amenities) specifications for various classes and types of service
Innovate and ideate new white space areas in the passenger experience on board and establish/create new products and new marketing partnerships and develop, update and expand customer offerings
Bachelors or equivalent work experience
Prior experience with some/all aspects of Onboard Product (seats, interiors, IFEC, soft product) design and development.
5-8 years’ work experience in product management and development
Strong presentation skills
Experience in executive communication and presence
Experience in managing and supervising people
Vendor/Agency management, as well as key relationship and communications skills
Willing and able to travel up to 30% (international and domestic)
MBA or Master’s degree
Agency management experience
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
