United Airlines Sr. Business Analyst - Crew in Chicago, Illinois

The Sr. Business Analyst is responsible for consultation to the internal and/or external customer. The Sr. Business Analyst possesses expertise in the customer area he/she supports (Flight Operations and Inflight Systems) with technical understanding of the business unit’s systems, capabilities, and respective technologies. The Sr. Business Analyst analyzes customer processes and requirements, and prepares specified project documentation according to UAL IDF standards. Assists in business process redesign as needed. Maintains communication with customer and team members and promotes a team environment.


  • Works on multiple complex projects that require subject matter business domain expertise

  • Create complex workflow models and process maps independently directly from a defined spec sheet

  • Facilitate meetings with Technology and Business Leaders to develop needs and requirements

  • Works independently and provides direction, tools, and process support to less senior employees


  • Business Acumen – Involves understanding and ability to apply business domain knowledge of Flight Operations and Inflight Crew Operations to defining requirements and in designing solution that meets the need of the Business

  • Industry Solution Knowledge - Involves having a conceptual understanding of the COSMOS application and the supporting technology platform as a basis for delivering robust and reliable solutions

  • Understanding of business principles (i.e Flight Operations and Inflight Crew Operations)


  • Communication Skills- The ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and management, capable of successful formal and informal communication, speaks and writes clearly and understandably at the right level.

  • 5 or more years IT and/or business experience, or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training.

  • 2 or more years of business analysis experience

  • Completed multiple projects in the Flight Operations, Inflight Crew Operations domain

  • Completed multiple projects involving the enhancement or modification of COSMOS
