Transportation Agent; PART-TIME - Catering Operations, Denver, CO (DEN)

Starting salary: $13.79 / per hour with regular increases at six months, one year and every year on the hire anniversary

The Catering Operations department develops, creates and provides the great dining experiences on board our aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Pack and check flights

  • Load and off-load food, beverage carts and equipment into vehicles and on/off aircraft

  • Drive catering vehicle and properly positions catering vehicle to aircraft

  • Check and assure vehicle is in operable condition

  • Inform manager of any maintenance needs or mechanical problems with vehicle

  • Pack, organize and secure equipment into carriers and place onto carts

  • Clean and maintain catering vehicles

  • Clean work area

  • Handle sanitizing chemicals

  • Assist in preparing ice and dry ice for flights

  • Drive hi-lift cargo vehicle and cargo vans

  • Operate forklift, hand truck and pallet jack

  • Support unit in the Supply Chain Optimization initiative

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required

  • High school diploma/GED (General Educational Development) or educational equivalent

  • Basic math skills to calculate totals and percentages

  • Must read, speak and write English fluently

  • Ability to communicate orally with co-workers

  • Ability to communicate orally with coworkers and managers using two-way radios

  • Ability to push and pull heavy carts and wagons

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and beverage carriers

  • Ability to stand and walk for entire shift

  • Frequent stooping to pick up equipment from ground level

  • Frequent repetitive motions, reaching and handling

  • Attention to detail required for packing of flights and catering flights to position carriers and carts in correct/assigned locations

  • Ability to work under time constraints

  • Ability to respond correctly to meal count and aircraft changes at a moment's notice

  • Ability to work in refrigerated areas of 35 degrees F at intervals of one hour

  • Ability to withstand exposure to extreme weather and temperatures on the airfield during the catering of flights

  • Ability to withstand exposure to aircraft noise during catering of flights

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • Previous experience working in an airline catering operations environment

  • Previous experience driving large, over-sized vehicles

  • CDL

Other

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must have a valid and active state driver's license (suspended, expired, revoked or denied are not considered valid)

  • Must be flexible and willing to work any shift in a 24-hour-a-day / 7-day-a-week operation, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays and overtime

  • Training will be provided on the job

  • Candidate must be able to clear a fingerprint-based criminal history check in order to obtain and retain credentials necessary for the position

  • Position-specific clearances include but are not limited to FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal service clearances may be required

  • This position is located in Denver, CO and United Airlines will not offer relocation assistance

  • This is a PART-TIME opportunity and will receive part-time benefits
