Senior Manager - Logistics

Job overview and responsibilities

The Senior Manager - Logistics will be responsible for the performance of the Transportation, Operations Center and Final Quality departments; this senior manager may lead over 300 employees in these areas. The Senior Manager will oversee day-to-day operational activities and will be held accountable for quality compliance, on-time performance and all related financial metrics.

  • Lead the implementation of operating policy and procedures, food safety compliance and regulatory compliance within areas of responsibility

  • Manage departments; coordinate production schedules with other departments to meet overall operational needs of the facility

  • Serve as Manager on Duty as needed

  • Supervise shift managers, supervisors and employees; responsible for ensuring productivity is within established budgets and manage resource planning, attendance, discipline, payroll, accident investigation, safety awareness and interviewing candidates for various roles within the assigned departments and throughout the division

  • Responsible for departmental quality, productivity, overall performance, food safety compliance, regulatory compliance and departmental safety programs

  • Establish departmental goals and objectives to support local and corporate initiatives

  • Participate as a key member of the Catering Operations and Airport Operations leadership teams to ensure corporate as well as local policy and procedures are implemented and maintained

  • Participate with Houston team and corporate resources to implement Lean processes and objectives into the production process

  • Accountable for ensuring stakeholders are using data to drive continuous improvements

  • Identify key issues relevant to divisional operational goals and recommend course of action based on quantifiable data

  • Escalate performance and service gaps and make recommendation solutions to Senior Leaders

Required

  • BA/BS in Engineering, Business Administration or similar/related field

  • Previous management experience of five or more years

  • Project Management for Process Improvement Projects

  • Experience using Root Cause Analysis methodologies

  • Process flow mapping

  • Airline Industry OR food catering/manufacturing experience

  • Experience leading teams greater than 300 employees in a just-in-time manufacturing environment

  • Willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders

  • Work in a cold, hot, and high moisture temperature-controlled environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the operation

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong knowledge of quality measurements

  • Strategic/Big Picture Thinking

  • Ability to work cross functionally with business partners

  • Ability to maintain catering certification as a driver on all aircraft types in fleet

  • Expectation to reside IN or relocate TO the Houston, TX area

  • Flexible, willing and able to work hours to support a 24 hour-a-day / 7 day-a-week operation that may include early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • HACCP Certification

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification

  • OSHA10/30 training

  • Experience managing process improvement

  • Experience using resource planning software

  • Experience improving employee engagement
