Food Services

The Food Services department develops, creates and provides the great dining experiences on board our aircraft.

Please note that this position will be hired under the Catering Operations divisional work rules.

Job overview and responsibilities

  • Distribute flight assignments to drivers based on E.T.A. of aircraft

  • Developing job assignments for aircraft servicing personnel

  • Tracking activities of aircraft servicing personnel through a two-way radio and use of routing Inflight system

  • Assists with scheduling of workflow for drivers

  • Monitor kitchen to meet Kitchen Departure Time (KDT) for all Flights

  • Log all shortages, uplifts and documents all catering irregularities which could contribute to delay situations

  • Monitor swaps and follow through

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Provide vacation relief for all Tower/Transportation positions within Chelsea as needed


  • Must read, speak and write English fluently

  • Verbally communicate with coworkers

  • Verbally communicate with coworkers and managers using two-way radios

  • Basic math skills

  • Attention to detail while communicating aircraft changes and catering problems to Ramp lead/Tower agent

  • Solid overall knowledge of Chelsea operation and United Airlines aircraft routing system

  • Good customer service and organizational skills

  • Familiar with airline time schedules

  • Must be able to work under time constraints

  • Knowledge of Flight Information Display screen (FIDS), Inflight system, dispatch radio and Shares

  • Good communication skills both oral and written

  • Must be able to walk and stand for entire shift

  • Physical demands of work day

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must have a valid driver's license (suspended, expired, revoked or denied are not considered valid)

  • Must be willing to work any shift in a 24/7 week, including weekends, nights and holidays

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is essential function of the position


  • High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) or equivalent

  • Minimum one year working on the transportation driver
