Overview

Ability to overhaul various hydraulic systems, as well as positive displacement pumps, hydraulic test benches, cylinders and jacks and various fixed shop equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules are bid and awarded according to seniority

  • Technicians may bid for schedules several times a year and schedules are awarded according to seniority

  • Hydraulic Technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT)

  • Salary increases will be administered according to the current IBT/United contract

  • New employees are required to join the union within ninety (90) days of employment

  • There is an initiation fee for joining the union and subsequent monthly union dues

Education

  • Must have a high school diploma/GED or education equivalent

Knowledge/Skills

  • Team player required

  • Customer focused required

  • Must have knowledge, ability and previous experience in the maintenance, repair and modification of a variety of industrial equipment including fixed shop equipment such as powered shears, drill presses and press brakes, etc., and mobile equipment such as hydraulic test benches.

Experience

  • 12 months experience of trouble shooting, repairing and overhauling various hydraulic and mechanical systems and components including centrifugal and positive displacement pumps required.

  • United will consider applicants with criminal histories consistent with the Fair Chance Ordinance

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Valid US driver's license (revoked, suspended or expired are not considered valid) required

  • Must pass 10-year background check

  • Must be willing to take a pre-placement physical abilities test, hearing and vision tests, and drug screen

  • Candidate must be able to clear a fingerprint-based criminal history check in order to obtain and retain credentials necessary for the position

  • Position-specific clearances may include but are not limited to FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal service clearances required

  • Overtime available/required depending upon operational need

  • Must be able to work any shift

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
