Technical Operations includes the maintenance, repair and overhaul of our aircraft. This includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.
Job overview and responsibilities
The Technical Operations Reliability team ensures United operates safely and dependably by analyzing aircraft defect and operational disruptions (i.e., delays, cancels, diversions) data. The team monitors trends to notify maintenance and engineering teams of emerging issues and probable corrective actions. Team also establishes key performance indicators and analyzes relationships between maintenance actions, aircraft systems and operational reliability.
Support mining and wrangling of data for strategic and tactical responsibilities including long-term modifications to United’s fleet and maintenance program and day-to-day identification of recurring aircraft system failures.
Support construction of key performance indicators. Support analysis of relationships between maintenance actions, aircraft systems and operational reliability. Support monitoring of trends to notify maintenance and engineering teams of emerging issues and probable corrective actions.
Support creation of reports and issue storytelling in written, visual and verbal formats to executive leadership.
Be agile enough for adhoc requests by leadership and internal customer groups.
Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field, such as statistics, mathematics, operations research, management science, engineering, economics
At least one year of experience in analysis, maintenance, or engineering
Ability to structure an analytical problem and apply data to make operational recommendations
Design, tracking, and implementation of meaningful metrics that indicate successful operational execution
Data transformation and analysis using SQL or similar language (i.e. PySpark)
Data visualization using reporting software (i.e. Tableau, Spotfire)
Able to develop and provide cohesive narratives through effective storytelling
Presentation development and reporting using various reporting tools (i.e. Office, Think-Cell)
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies, including FAA and DOT
Two years experience forging collaborative business relationships, with an emphasis on customer service
Executive communication skills, particularly presenting in front of large groups of senior leaders
Proficiency in at least one language for quantitative analysis (i.e. R, Python)
Proficiency with Office applications, specifically PowerPoint and Excel
Analytics using both structured and unstructured data
Knowledge or experience in aircraft maintenance or engineering
