Corporate Real Estate
The Corporate Real Estate team is composed of Planning and Development (formerly called Design and Construction) and Airport Affairs. These two teams work together to secure lease spaces and manage all major construction and renovation projects at our hubs, stations and city locations across the world.
Job overview and responsibilities
Manages negotiations and relationship activities with governing bodies at assigned smaller or express served airports and cities in the domestic or international system. Portfolios typically consist of 30 to 50 smaller stations with annual budget responsibilities at these smaller stations of less than $1MM per station. Ensures effective cost control, operational flexibility and asset utilization that best supports the company’s business strategy.
Lease Negotiation and Relationship Management
Manages negotiating and relationship management activities with the respective governing bodies at smaller or express served airport locations and commercial properties in the domestic and/or international system, ensuring effective cost control, operational flexibility and asset utilization.
Reviews and coordinates leases and other business issues related to the company’s rights for properties and facilities at assigned locations.
Works with internal and external organizations and key stakeholders to ensure CRE projects are executed on time and within budget.
Responsible for hub airport support and cross-divisional projects
Manages varied professional services and consultants to accomplish all tasks associated with scope of properties – some of which may not be directly managed by United.
Must mediate between often conflicting priorities of stakeholders and/or advocate on United’s behalf.
Must conduct activities with limited oversight and make decisions in the field that best support the company’s business strategy.
Performs financial analyses and takes actions to influence airports, municipalities, authorities, other air carriers, and airport tenants in the areas of rates and charges, capital improvement programs, airport Master Plans and airport capacity for the enterprise.
Administers accounting and cost controls for budgeting, forecasting and payment of rentals, landing fees, facility charges at assigned locations.
Responsible for SOX compliance and other regulatory accountability for assigned portfolio.
Working knowledge of airport operations, finance, construction and political/regulatory processes are necessary to be impactful in this area.
Engages with industry peers, industry associations, internal/external legal and regulatory experts to protect United’s interests.
Must synthesize multiple objectives and decide on optimal strategy to achieve success often without immediate support of company leadership
Bachelor’s degree in related field

Airline, airport, commercial real estate experience or contract negotiation experience.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
Master’s degree in Business Administration or Law
Able to collaborate with and influence internal and external stakeholders.Airline or airport experience.
Two to five years airline, airport, commercial real estate experience or contract negotiation experience.
