Job Overview and Responsibilities:

The Application Cloud Engineering team is looking for an energetic Cloud engineer who is excited about learning new technologies and working with many different teams to help create, manage, and optimize AWS Cloud Application environments. This team works closely with both application and infrastructure teams to help deliver reliable and high-performing cloud environments. Incumbent will:

  • Work with AWS native technologies such as EC2, EKS, Lambda, Kinesis, AppSync, SQS, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Config, etc.

  • Learn from and assist the Application Cloud Engineering team with building, operating, and maintaining a scalable and cost-effective cloud environment for application teams. This involves understanding application requirements to ensure proper designs are being implemented, ensuring that necessary logging and monitoring for applications is present, and creating detective compliance automation for cost optimization.

  • Work with different application teams independently to help diagnose and fix application issues related to cloud environment infrastructure.

  • Create or review AWS CloudFormation templates that automates the entire infrastructure for the application while following the standards.

  • Create Python or Linux Shell scripts to automate manual tasks.

  • Collaborate closely with the cloud engineering and security team on cloud projects.

  • Research and evaluate new automation technologies and look for opportunities to streamline processes or improve efficiency within United Cloud environments.

Required:

  • 5+ years of application development or preferably 1-3 years of DevOps experience.

  • Basic understanding of web applications, databases (relational and NoSQL), messaging (MQ, Tibco EMS, Kafka), and version control systems (Git, TFS).

  • Strong desire to learn new technologies.

  • Some exposure / hands-on experience in some of these areas: CI/CD, AWS CloudFormation, AWS Code Pipeline, AWS Lambda, EC2, EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, SQS, Kinesis, AWS Config.

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, other STEM field, or equivalent work experience, or AWS Associate level certification or better (Solution Architect, Developer, or SysOps).

  • Experience with core AWS technologies is strongly preferred.

  • Scripting experience with Python or Bash.

Preferred:

  • Hands on experience with AWS native technologies.

  • Python development experience preferred, C#/Java is a big plus.
