Job overview and responsibilities:
United Airlines’ Flight Operations Technology Platform department partners with business and technology leaders across the company to create services and applications across key airline functionalities such as Pilot Training, Qualifications, Man Power Planning, and Simulators Systems to help support the Operations and Digital Channels of United.
As a Senior Developer, you will be part of a team responsible for the development of mission critical applications. You will help us redesign, develop, document, test, and implement new applications to replace current legacy apps. Additionally, as a Senior Developer, you will build these applications with a focus on delivering cloud-based solutions. Incumbent will use leading edge technologies and enterprise grade integration software daily. Additionally:
Leads the design, development, and planning for solutions and technology standards to solve complex business problems.
Hands-on development, Support and troubleshoot software systems as required, optimizing performance, resolving problems, and providing follow-up on all issues and solutions.
Ensures that systems are properly integrated.
Works with business, support, or development teams recommending system enhancements.
Consults across multiple United Information Technology projects and technology areas to perform troubleshooting, problem management, root-cause analysis, and solution implementation.
Serves as a resource for technology/project development review and technical assessments.
Ensures that the technical solutions meet the customers’ business goals.
Provide consultation and technical leadership in project life cycle planning.
Ensures consistency and coherence to the enterprise standards and guiding principles throughout the application lifecycle.
Identifies opportunities to leverage/influence the direction for existing infrastructure and application components.
Keeps abreast of industry trends through benchmarking, participation in professional associations etc. in order to advise others of strategic technology direction.
Provides feedback to the enterprise technology owners and Architects regarding future solution needs.
Understands and applies the enterprise vision and strategy to the project solution while balancing tactical needs to deliver.
Partners with various business and IT stakeholders in defining domain architecture strategy.
Bachelor’s in Computer Science/Information Technology, or related field.
5+ years of strong experience in Java development using Spring framework.
5+ years of experience using Spring, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Quartz, Schedulers, Caching API.
2+ years of strong experience using Angular 6 or 7/Java Script/Bootstrap and CSS.
Experience working with Tibco EMS and IBM MQ.
5+ years of experience building RESTful web services using Spring framework. Good understanding of relational databases (MS SQL, Oracle).
Strong object oriented design skills and the ability to analyze requirements and transform into scalable software designs using patterns and best practices.
Strong knowledge of deploying the application to WebSphere and Tomcat.
Ability to understand business stories and covert into technical designs.
Experience using version control – GIT/SVN and CI/CD – Jenkins, Maven, Gradle.
Exceptional at understanding business stories and covert into technical designs. Strong experience writing unit test cases using jUnit/JMock/Mockito.
Airline or Transportation Industry experience.
Experience working in transactional, real-time messaging environment.
Good understanding NoSQL databases (Couch Base).
Experience working with C#, Asp.NET, Web API, WCF, MS Visual Studio, MS TFS.
