Technical Operations/Maintenance

Technical Operations includes the maintenance, repair and overhaul of our aircraft. This includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Technical Operations Reliability team ensures United operates safely and dependably by analyzing aircraft defect and operational disruptions (i.e., delays, cancels, diversions) data. The team monitors trends to notify maintenance and engineering teams of emerging issues and probable corrective actions. Team also establishes key performance indicators and analyzes relationships between maintenance actions, aircraft systems and operational reliability.

  • Team provides seven day coverage and support for daily notable events and out-of-service aircraft.

  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with Technical Operations stakeholder groups including Maintenance Control (TOMC), Technical Support, Line Maintenance, Engineering Fleet Performance Managers (FPMs), Engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Maintenance Programs.

  • Provide tactical support with short-range analysis, impact review and reliability data as needed for regulatory compliance.

  • Support recommendations for corrective actions and reliability playbooks.

  • Monitor and report key maintenance events.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, aviation maintenance, or equivalent work experience

  • At least two years’ experience forging collaborative business relationships, with an emphasis on customer service

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel

  • At least five years of experience in engineering, aircraft maintenance, analysis, or related fields

  • Must be willing and able to work 24/7 schedule which may include night, weekend or holidays

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies, including FAA and DOT

  • Experience in aircraft engineering or maintenance on United’s Airbus and Boeing fleets

  • Additional certifications, such as A&P license or equivalent

  • Ability to structure an analytical problem and apply data to make operational recommendations
