Catering Operations

The Catering Operations department develops and provides the great dining experiences on board our aircraft and ensuring the catering operation goes smoothly.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Manager of Transportation will be responsible for the performance of the Transportation, Operations Center and Final Quality departments within Catering Operations. This manager will assist in leading over 300 employees in these areas overseeing day-to-day operational activities. Will be held accountable for quality compliance, on-time performance and all related financial metrics related to scope of responsibility.

  • Implements operating policy and procedures, food safety compliance and regulatory compliance within areas of responsibility

  • Coordinates production schedules with other departments to meet overall operational needs of the facility

  • Serves as Manager on Duty as needed

  • Supports shift managers, supervisors and employees, responsible for ensuring productivity is within establish ed budgets and manage resource planning, attendance, discipline, payroll, accident investigation, safety awareness and interviewing candidates for various roles within the assigned departments and throughout the division

  • Assists with departmental quality, productivity, overall performance, food safety compliance, regulatory compliance and departmental safety programs

  • Establishes departmental goals and objectives to support local corporate initiatives

  • Participates with local team and corporate resources to implement lean processes and objectives into the production process

  • Identifies key issues relevant to division operational goals and recommends course of action based on quantifiable data

  • On shift operational oversight to ensure operational performance

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED or education equivalent

  • BA/BS in Engineering, Business Administration or similar/related field. An equivalent number of years in Food Service, Airline, or Catering Operations experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

  • 3+ years airline industry OR Food catering/manufacturing experience

  • 3+ years of experience in progressive leadership roles

  • Experience using Root Cause Analysis methodologies

  • Ability to maintain catering certifications as a driver on all aircraft types in the fleet

  • Expectation to reside in or relocate to the Houston, Texas area

  • Flexible, willing and able to work hours to support a 24 hour a day / 7 day a week

  • Experience leading teams

  • Willing and able to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders

  • Work in cold, hot, high moisture temperature-controlled environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the operation

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to work cross functionally with business partners

  • Strong knowledge of quality measurements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
