Human Resources overview

The Human Resources team helps attract and recruit diverse talent, and works to provide employees with competitive benefits, leadership resources and the support to be successful at United. Our HR Business Partners (HRBPs) work directly with leaders to make sure our business and people strategies are aligned to support our enterprise strategy.

Job overview and responsibilities

The HRBP Team is involved in employee relations and engagement, labor relations, change management, communication processes, organizational design, and performance management. This team is located at all of United’s hub locations and Corporate Support Centers and work side by side with business leaders, supporting all areas of United’s operations. The internship is designed to prepare you for a full-time career within Human Resources at United.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project planning meetings for ongoing continuous improvement and HR initiatives

  • Work alongside Field and Corporate HRBPs in support of United business units

  • Support Performance and Talent Management processes with HRBPs and HR Centers of Excellence

  • Collect, analyze, and provide recommendations on any talent, organizational health, and workforce planning data

  • Support the development and implementation of change management and training plans for various policy initiatives in Human Resources

  • Implement changes and improvements to HR communication processes

  • Actively participate and support employee engagement activities

Successful candidates could be placed in a variety of locations, including Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Denver, San Francisco, or New Jersey.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a current student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree with a major in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related field

  • Strong interpersonal skills with focus on teamwork

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience in data analytics through internships, coursework, or campus experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency using Spotfire

  • Previous HR internship experience

Other Qualifications

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
